About The Author

Warner, Sally

Warner, Sally

Sally Warner worked first as an artist and an art teacher, exhibiting her drawings all over the country. After writing three books on creativity for adults, she started writing fiction for children. The author of the popular Sort of Forever (Knopf Books for Young Readers, ages 8 - 12), Sally also wrote the internationally popular middle readers Dog Years (also Knopf, a favorite in Italy) and How to be a Real Person (in Just One Day), (Knopf again, and still doing very well in South America). Sally has sold more than 800,000 books to date.

Sally was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut and California. She attended school in Pasadena. She then received her B.A. from Scripps College in Claremont, CA, and her B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in fine art from Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.

Sally and her husband - writer Christopher Davis - live in Southern California.

All the boys in EllRay’s third-grade class have something they can brag about. Corey’s on the swim team, Kevin is super tall, Jared’s dad has an ATV. But EllRay’s dad is a geologist – not much to brag about. After all, rocks are boring. Then EllRay sees the crystals in his dad’s office, and they are really cool looking. If EllRay just “borrows” them to show his classmates, he knows they’d be impressed. And his dad will never have to know. It’s a perfect plan . . . until things go awry.
