About The Author

Warner, Sally

Warner, Sally

Sally Warner worked first as an artist and an art teacher, exhibiting her drawings all over the country. After writing three books on creativity for adults, she started writing fiction for children. The author of the popular Sort of Forever (Knopf Books for Young Readers, ages 8 - 12), Sally also wrote the internationally popular middle readers Dog Years (also Knopf, a favorite in Italy) and How to be a Real Person (in Just One Day), (Knopf again, and still doing very well in South America). Sally has sold more than 800,000 books to date.

Sally was born in New York City and grew up in Connecticut and California. She attended school in Pasadena. She then received her B.A. from Scripps College in Claremont, CA, and her B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees in fine art from Otis Art Institute in Los Angeles.

Sally and her husband - writer Christopher Davis - live in Southern California.

EllRay Jakes is a small kid with big problems!

EllRay Jakes may be the smallest kid in his class at Oak Glen Primary School, but he’s also his sister Alfie’s big brother. So when it looks like Alfie is being bossed around by a dragon-like girl at her school, EllRay feels responsible. As her older (and wiser!) brother, shouldn’t he show her that she should stand up for herself?

But little sisters and four-year-old dragons are a bit more complicated than he thought. . . .
